Hello Team,

I'm hoping one of the brilliant experts here could assist. I've had one pesky update fail for some time and I feel in general the OS has not been as stable the past 06-12months.

I have tried all the common windows update reset / clear caches steps I can think of but am having no joy. I feel there might be some corruption or something but am not good at the logs.

I followed your guide as close as possible and hopefully this is a great start.

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Strangely enough, the KB I was struggling with was:

KB5028168

But now its progressed to:

KB5036896

Is this good or bad I'm not sure! But either way I will redo my logs and upload shortly :) Thanks in advance

From the uploaded files I see that I have 24/25k of these missing reg keys? Are these bad / how does one fix them? I have not been able to source this cat file from anywhere else so cant find matching reg.
Code:
== Missing Registry Keys ==

and I'll be honest as I have no idea what this means.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hi Maxstar!

Hi,

Same error this time, but I'll need to install some older updates on a VM to provide the next fix.
