Tired lots on server 2019 new VM server on Host.

Ran Ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth- error source files cannot be found. (NO FILES attached)
And sfc /scannow- found corrupt files cannot fix (FILES ATTACHED)
Tried to run Windows Update troubleshooter
Said I have to restart my Server to run this

Mean time
Stop update services
Deleted:
Type %windir%SoftwareDistributionDataStore in this new window and click OK
Deleted the two log files in there
Restarted the Windows and it started to update what was download on the server earlier, Ask to restart
Restarted the server (VM)
Started to installed cumulative updates then it stopped at 100 % and roll back-
Error cannot install- Uninstalling Updates!
Rebooted server

Back to where I am with the same download wanting to install
HOW DO I ASK the server to not update that particular update?

Give up
Any ideas people?

Restarted server a few times. The updates still will install but uninstall after the reboot. No idea how to approach this.

Hello savant,

I've had a look at your CBS log and there are two files which have problems with their hashes and are therefore considered as corrupted.

We can fix these for you but there may also be problems with your COMPONENT hive which will also need fixing. I will need to take a look at this first.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service. Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or WeTransfer and then just provide the link in your reply.

Hello again
I have attached that componet file here. it was not as large as I was also thinking.
Hope it will shed some light to this issue
Thank you with this

Here is the fix.

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Attach this file into your next post for me to check please.

Afterwards you can rerun DISM and SFC to check for any further errors. If there are any then please upload the new CBS logs.

Hi there philc43 the scan and Dism no more errors.
Glad that you help me to fix this issue on this new VM server. SO helpful you have been.
I started to now do the Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019.
FAILED after the server started
Here is another interesting thing ,
On a different server acting as a HOST server also has issues with these Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019.
Same thing update downloads. Ask to reboot the server.
Installs during the boot up process.
Then it starts to un installed all the updates it did as it says failed.
Now two different server have the same issues
This can only lead to a bad batch of updates pushed by Microsoft.
Can you and others confirm this or is there a fix?
Great to hear from others.
