Hello,

we have a problem with one of our Server 2019 installations, the server can´t install Cumulative Updates.
other updates seem to work just fine.
The Server itself is an Dell PowerEdge R6515, so its no VM :)
we tried everything we could and our next step would be to do a fresh install....

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Afterwards attempt to update. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

Thank you!
It looked good at the beginning but still failed, but instead of only going up to 4% and then failing the installtion went up to 24%.

1. Please don't quote my previous post.
2. Do we still make progess in percentage % while updating?

unfortunately, its back at getting stuck at 3% for quite some time then goes up to 4% and then exits with 0x800f0988

Hmm, please attempt to update again with Process Monitor running.

Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Try updating the system just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor a minute after Windows Update failed to be sure everything is logged. You can simply do this by clicking the capture icon (CTRL +E) on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up the LogFile.PML and upload it to WeTransfer | Send Large Files Fast - Up To 2GB Free and provide the link.
6. Upload also the latest CBS log for the time stamps.

Hi,

Is this server installed with the evaluation ISO for Server 2019 including partially installed language packs?
Run also the following command in an elevated prompt and post the result.
Code:
DISM /online /get-intl > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\DISM-lang.txt"

Hi,
the person who setup the server is not in the company anymore.
since the Original DELL Windows Server 2019 iso disk is still in the disk drive i think he used that back in the day :)
