Server 2016 Update Errors. 0x8000ffff

Hi,

I've been having windows update issues (Server 2016 Essentials) since 2018 attached is the updates currently installed, its not really been a problem until now. I need to update some software that needs .net 4.7.2 though when trying to install that manually it berings up the same error x8000ffff catastophic failure.



I've ran SFC and that passes, though when running DISM i get the same error 0x8000ffff. See screenshot below.



The same error is occured when trying to add/remove server roles.

Does anyone have any ideas or could point me in the right direction, the only other alternative i have is inplae upgrade or fresh install.

Sorry SFC /scannow is now bringing up errors with corrupt files but was unable to fix them.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

• Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
• Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
• Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
• Click on the Yes button here.

• Attach the file CBS.zip to your next reply.
