Hello,
I followed the forum for a while and was a silent member till now. Thanks to all of you who are engaged in helping out others often without any compensation at all.

Today I have a problem that I could not solve alone till now.. I have an Server 2016 Std that periodically looses network connection. If this happens even the attached netdrives to himself are not working anymore (even localhost sharefolder as netdrive). What helps is to disable the network adapter on the host (Server 2016 Std also) and enable it again and then restart the vm. After this procedure the clients can work again and the netdrives work correct again. We already replaced the networkcard and sfp modules and cables plus the switch. Still happening.

SFC showed correctable files and dism also. Lately sfc says everything fine but dism still shows 19 corruptions. Manual repair via something like this "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /LimitAccess /Source:C:\temp\KB4521858_msu\update" did not work because again it says source not found. if i use "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" it says "The array bounds are invalid."
I ran:

1. sfc /scannow
2. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
3. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
4. DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
-> also i already tried the combination with source: .. :2 limitaccess with a mounted server 2016 standard evaluation iso.

I would appreciate any help. Thank you a lot!

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Step 1. Download
56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Thank you! Seems as if it worked! Thanks a lot!

Somehow i still have problems with services randomly stopping and starting again all the time, but also an error concerning the sxs:

DISM is succesfull anyway.

You're welcome. Please provide a copy of the Event Logs to look at.

Question: It seems this server is running software of Zahnarzt-Software von Dampsoft - Digitales Praxismanagement seen this directory: R:\TDAMP\DS\SetupClient.exe.

So far as I can see Setup-Client.exe is a part of the DS-Win software: DS-Win - Die marktführende Zahnarzt-Software von Dampsoft

Upload the Event Viewer logs.
  • Click the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
Copy and paste the following commands one at a time into the command prompt and press enter after each.
    Code:
    wevtutil epl SYSTEM "%userprofile%\Desktop\System.evt"
    wevtutil epl APPLICATION "%userprofile%\Desktop\Application.evt"
    PowerShell Compress-Archive -Path "%userprofile%\Desktop\*.evt" -DestinationPath "%UserProfile%\Desktop\EventLogs.zip"
  • These commands will collect the System and Application logs and create EventsLogs.zip on your Desktop.
  • Attach this file in your next reply.

Hi,

Open an elevated command prompt, run the following commands and post the result of both of them.
Rich (BB code):
certutil -hashfile C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\amd64_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.14393.4169_none_7de0bbf28341b1f2.manifest SHA256
certutil -hashfile C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.14393.4169_none_c58df2c997bddaf8.manifest SHA256

Hi,

The file hashes looking good, they are the same as on my VM.

I am not familiar with the Dampsoft software as mentioned in post #6, so I would suggest to contact this Company investigate this problem.

Rich (BB code):
Activation context generation failed for "R:\TDAMP\DS\setupClient.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line .
A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:.
Component 1: C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\amd64_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.14393.4169_none_7de0bbf28341b1f2.manifest.
Component 2: C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.14393.4169_none_c58df2c997bddaf8.manifest.

Okay, thanks! I will do that. Thank you so far for all your time!

I think i still have a problem with the os / drivers in this vm. Checkpoints not working with timeout and every afternoon between 15 and 17 o clock the network connection is lost and only a restart of the network adapter on the host plus the vm seems to help. Would it be possible that you assist me in investigating further? Of course I will donate to the site no matter the answer will be. Thank you! If you'd like to assist, i would send more screenshots of the errors during checkpoints and the eventlogs.

Greetings!

You're welcome. And thanks for your donation to Sysnative...

This forum is limited to resolve Windows Update issues, so for the networking issue I would suggest to start a new thread in this subforum.

Perfect, hopefully someone else has a solution to resolve the networking issue. Have a good day too!
