This update (and also 2 optional security updates) will install "successfully" then when the computer reboots, it will say configuration failed, reverting settings and reboot after a very long time.

I have tried downloading from the update catalog.

Tried installing via DISM / .cab file

Removed virus software

All of these options have failed. Any suggestions?

Update:
I ran SFC and it found and repaired corrupt files.

I then ran SFCFix.exe, it reported 108 unresolved errors, but the log didn't pop up as described.

The CBS file is 12.1 GB, what should I do to get you this information?

** I have backed up the CBS log, then deleted the old one. I am now re-running sfc and then the sfcfix.exe and will post the new / smaller cbs log.

Rebooted

Re-ran SFC - No errors
Re- ran the SFC Fix - No Errors

Tried the update again and it failed configuring. 45 min reboot and hopefully ill be able to post the log file.

Just wanted to attach the DISM log as well in case you need it.

It failed error 87 due to my version of windows. I need to run it offline i believe.

Easier said than done.

I backed up the file.

Then i change ownership / permission of all entries in the winsxs folder for tacoma and it still wont delete.
There is no error now, just nothing happens when i attempt to delete the tacoma bold file.

I can removed Tacoma via registry editing, but is that wise?

I was expecting this to happen, because the inability to delete that file is what's causing the update to revert.

Step#1 - ChkDsk Scan
1. Click your Start Orb in the lower left of your computer and type cmd in the search box.
2. Once the cmd program is found, right-click on it with your mouse and select Run as administrator as shown below.
3. Answer Yes when asked to allow.
4. You should now have a black window open that you can type in to.
5. Please type chkdsk /f and then press enter.
6. Chkdsk will start to run. Please allow it to finish.
7. Download ListChkdskResult.exe by SleepyDude and save it on your desktop. If it's already downloaded to your desktop, just skip this step.
8. Right-click this file and select Run as administrator (Allow if prompted)and a text file will open (and also be saved on the desktop as ListChkdskResult.txt).
Please copy the contents of this file and paste into your next post.

Well, I have managed to make progress on the deletion. Now it is locked by another program. I found the PID and stopped the process but it still is reporting as locked. I will sced the chk disk and try to get it done while folks are at lunch today. Otherwise it will run tonight.

Ok I manged to rename the file and it was immediatly replaced by the system. Shall i try the updates now?

It appears this has worked as the first batches of updates have gone though.

Thanks!

As a side question, if i boot to RM and use DISM would this have worked? What would the command be dism /offline /cleanup-image /restorehealth?

Awesome!

Nope, you would still need to take care of the file.

As for DISM, you'd have to mount the wim file first: DISM.exe /Mount-Wim /WimFile:C:\test\images\my image.wim /index:1 /MountDir:C:\test\offline
