I have had this computer since 1/2010. The computer has worked well until the last six months. It seems slow to start and has BSOD randomly. It also seems busy with background operations sometimes when I when I try to use it. What can I do to make it stable and regain the old speed?

Why do you use a USB to ethernet connector when you have an ethernet connector built into the system?

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Re: Random BSOD on Sager 9280 Notebook

Thank you usasma,

I have been working on this problem. I have a USB docking station that has a ethernet connection. It may not be as fast but it is more convenient when moving the notebook often. I have updated the drivers except psxdrv.sys. I have not found a new driver or a way to uninstall it. I did run Memtest86+. It showed a bad memory chip. I removed it and now have 8GB that tests good. I used Seagate Tools to check the drives and one needed repair. The system is still slow to boot but the BSOD has not returned.

CPU - i7 975 3.33GHz
Video Card - nVidia Quatro FX 3800M
MotherBoard - ? x64 PC
Chipset - Intel x58

Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

Sometimes the repair isn't effective - and the driver remains damaged.
Please run the hard drive test again to see if it says the disk is still damaged.
If so, then it's time for a new hard drive.

Is this a work system? There are problems with Active Directory noted in the Event Viewer logs. I have not idea about how Active Directory may work - so I won't be of much help in fixing any issues with it.

Other issues are with the networking stuff and Virtual PC. Have you updated/removed the drivers that were mentioned in Post #2?
Have you run Startup Repair on the system?: Startup Repair - Windows 7 Help Forums
