Hi folks,

I am helping a friend with a Radeon card that is causing a blue screen of death when booting to Windows.

It is a Dell PC which has been tried tested with the latest Dell Radeon Drivers and from ATI's website.

If I remember correctly, it is producing a stop error code: 0x00000016b with a file called atixxx.sys, I think.

I even tried a clean O/S reinstall, it is still causing the blue screen?

The card can still operate fine in low resolution mode without the drivers installed.

I have attach a WinDump file for analysis.

Any suggestions, if you need more clarification, let me know.

Regards,

Boabyboy

Your graphics driver seems to be a possible cause, please update to the latest WHQL version from AMD's website, since they have a later version:

What are the temperatures of the graphics card? Please report these temperatures using GPU-Z Video card GPU Information Utility.

I would suggest running https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/3907-furmark-display-card-stress-test.html to test for any hardware issues with the card itself.

Lets get a look at the temps and voltages.
D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).

0x117 is a Video TDR(Timeout Detection Recovery) error it could be caused by either software or hardware errors.
It appears you have pretty much exhausted the software route.

Hi folks,

Sorry for the delayed reply regarding this thread. In the end I had my buddy to get a new GPU and the issue is not causing any further problems, yet.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions.

Boabyboy
