Trying to help a user on Answers - BCCode 1e - Microsoft Community

They cannot seem to update to the latest version of Intel Rapid Storage Technology from their Asus mobo page. They also said they cannot try an uninstall first and then possibly a reinstall (or uninstall in general) as they are using IRST for a RAID 0 and they are afraid they won't be able to boot.

RAID is something I've never messed with, so can anyone throw me some tips on what I should advise this user to do?

Thanks.

Looks like he's running Win 7 not Win 8
Code:
Built by: [B]7601.18205[/B].amd64fre.win7sp1_gdr.130708-1532
Debug session time: Sat Aug 31 23:00:53.153 2013 (UTC - 4:00)
System Uptime: 0 days 1:42:23.949
BugCheck 1E, {0, 0, 0, 0}
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for iaStorA.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for iaStorA.sys
Probably caused by : storport.sys ( storport!StorPortNotification+22 )

PROCESS_NAME: System

On a X79 board he may be running the enterprise version of IRST
Intel Rapid Storage Technology enterprise driver software V3.6.0.1093

Why are they using RAID? I would suggest converting back to Basic and then removing the driver from the system.

Ah, yes, woops! I don't know why I even mentioned '8' in the title. I was even aware myself that it was Windows 7 in the Answers thread

I told him to try the non-enterprise first, and it didn't work... and then instructed to try enterprise, and the user reported that won't install as well.

Why are they using RAID? I would suggest converting back to Basic and then removing the driver from the system.

Can you do something like this and be able to go back afterwards? As I said, I think RAID is one of those things I know nothing about. I only had to know of it for A+ a little bit.

I've seen a lot of guys over the years go for a raid 0 setup which is a stripped volume which in theory is faster then a single drive, on SSD's I doubt you'll see any difference in fact it may be slower on some of these controllers.

Is the user in the Answers thread using a RAID 0 config with SSD's, Bruce? Or was that just an example?

Got it, the OP is continue to stop using a raid0 config sometime soon, so thanks for the responses!
