Problem with 8 upgrade

I have a windows 7 tablet, and trying to upgrade to windows 8 I messed up and I now need to reinstall window 7. Using the windows7 dvd I have tried a repair to no avail, when trying the install the disk size is only 4gig, so will not install. The drive is a 64gig SSD. Using the command prompt from the DVD, I see that I'm on the X:\sources drive, I type Diskpart, list disk I see one disk of 4 gig, my problem is how can I get to the X\sources drive to reinstall windows 7,that's where it is installed, I can CD to windows\system32 and see all the files in there.

The X: drive is not where Windows is installed. X: is the RAMDisk that Windows setup and recovery loads your Windows installation media into so it can be accessed quicker from the RAM instead of from the CD/DVD/USB drive.

I am concerned about the 4 GB drive being the only drive that shows up in Diskpart -> List Disk; you should be able to see your 64 GB SSD through Diskpart if it is working properly.

Can you provide a picture of the Diskpart -> List Disk command output? Use a digital camera without the flash on to take the picture.

What is Disk 1 = 7580 MB? It can't be RAMDISK drive x: -- it's way too large.

Hi jcgriff22,
I don't know what the disk 1 is. I cant get a screen shot of windows 7 in the tablet as I cant boot to the tablet. I cant see in the bios any disk size at all, in fact the bios doesn't give me a lot of access to anything.

If there is anything I can do to help. Thanks for your help

Looks like the SSD is not being detected. Try doing a power cycle of the SSD. The following steps should be carried out and take ~1 hour to complete.

Power off the system.
Remove all power supplies (ac adapter then battery for laptop, ac adapter for desktop)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and drain all components of power.
Reconnect all power supplies (battery then ac adapter for laptop, ac adapter for desktop)
Turn on the system and enter the BIOS (see your manual for the steps to enter the BIOS)
Let the computer remain in the BIOS for 20 minutes.
Follow steps 1-3 and physically remove the SSD from the system by disconnecting the cables for a desktop or disconnecting the drive from the junction for a laptop.
Leave the drive disconnected for 30 seconds to let all power drain from it.
Replace the drive connection(s) and then do steps 4-8 again.
Repeat steps 1-4.
Start your computer normally and run Windows.

Check for a BIOS update at the system manufacturer's support site.

Hi jcgrff2 I'm trying to get the bios info from the post screen but how to stop it from moving on is a problem. I can get most of the info from the setup bios screen, but I cant get the bios release number and bios ref. I'm not sure how I would Flash the bios unless it's done from the boot. Being the Tablet is non functioning would it be any good just flashing the same version if that was all that was availble? I just remembered I have a backup of the Tablets drivers maybe if p[ossible I could reinstall the SSD drivers if I have it, just a thought. As you can see I'm now floundering, with a naf Tablet. Thank you for your help I cant find out the Mobo name or NUmber will this prevent me from flashing the bios

Hi jcgriff2 I have been into my bios and change from AHCI to IDE, and have found I have a primary IDE Master HD with a size of 4.2 gig the intersting part is the Vendor JM Loader 00. I'm now looking on the net and there seems to be a problem with JM Loader. so i'll keep digging

No the people that I bought the Tablet from is Jexxa, and they dont respond to emails etc. I t was a mistake to have bought from them but you live and learn. Ithink it may be a case of buying a new SSD. I have managed to get the case off which was stuck on, but the SSD dont look that easy to get out.

Hi jcgriff2 I dont know the make or model of the tablet, as you may have seen there's no more windows 7 on the site. I'm going to give them a call tommorow, but I'm not that confident that they will offer much assistance. I think that they just import from China sell them and well tough if it packs up, and this tablet cost 475£. I have since got the ipad I think I got this tablet because it was running 7, but compared to the ipad not very well. This JM Loader seems to be an issue with SSD's it looks as though you have to replace the SSD should you be fortunate enough to get this loader pop up in the bios. I thank you once again for your assistance and patience. I'l let you know how I get on with Jexaa or not as the case maybe. Nick
