Persistent Windows Update 800F0900 Error

After a fresh install of Windows, I have lost Windows Update functionality - I have installed the the System Update Readiness tool, but the 800F0900 error has persisted. I've uploaded a .zip of my CBS log folder.

Windows Update Package Replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

Please download the attached file, WUA_64.zip and save this to your Desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests
Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again
When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Just wondering from the filename if that is for 64-bit AMD processors? Don't know if it'll make a difference but mine is a 64-bit Intel.

Hi,

Regarding your question, that is actually a common source of confusion. In fact, amd64 just means it's for 64 bit processors. You see, AMD was the first company to produce 64 bit processors, and therefore when Microsoft began to develop 64bit support, they called all the 64bit components amd64. When Intel released a 64bit processor, it was complicated for microsoft to change their naming system, so it just stuck. But rest assured, amd64 is the right set of files. :)
