I made a password reset disk on my Windows 7 a few months ago. But it doesn't work my Windows 10 laptop when plugged in. it says invalid reset disk. But it does work on my old Win 7 PC. what's the problem here?

You made it on your W7 PC, but are trying to use it in a W10 system?

That is likely why it does not work.

New to this staff. So it only being used on that old win7 PC?
I don't know if the the password reset disk of Windows 7 works on a Windows 10 computer.
But you'd better use Windows 10 password reset disk on your Windows 10 laptop, now make a new one for it,see: The Best Way to Create Password Reset Disk Windows 10 for Another Computer

A password reset disk will only work on the computer it was made on, you can check this discussion:
can you make a password reset disk on one computer and use it on another using the same operating system?

When you lost the local admin password, just boot off with Windows installation media and you remove it with this backdoor:
Reset Lost Windows 10 Password with Sticky Keys Method | Password Recovery

If you use a Microsoft account to sign into Windows 10 and forgot the password, you can reset it from another device with internet connection:
Recover a Microsoft account password

In case none of the above methods can help you out, reinstallatiion is the last resort to restore access.

I don't think a boot disk will work on both Windows10 and Windows 7,if it was a boot disk for Windows 7,so it wouldn't work on Windows 10,you can make one for Windows 10.
