i just did a complete redo on a new drive (m.2)
installed everything, no problem
a day or two later (this morning) i wake up, go to pc, ordered some Christmas tree clips for my car and then went to facebook, seen a video i was interested, played it, no sound.... okay... i clicked volume control, clicked in it and it normally does a "windows ding" sound, and it wasnt doing it, checked my volume controls all over the place, including my sound bar that im hooked on with hdmi, all good, it was working find last night, now nothing.... okay... well maybe its a fluke and i forgot to instal sound drivers and for some reason my motherboard did its thing anyway and it worked till now, ? no idea anyway
installed sound drivers through asus as usual, then it wants a restart, okay, i restart, then when it gets to bios *press f2 or esc to enter setup* usually stays on that page for about 2-3 seconds and then goes to windowd, this time NOTHING, it stayed there.... i was like uuuhhh ooookkkaay? ill wait a few more seconds?
still nothing, so i tried f2/esc, nothing happened, force restart pc, same thing... now i start to kinda panick, pandemic going on, everything is closed... so i take pc to table, take cover off, do the cmos reset (take graphic card out, battery is under it) wait 10-15 seconds, put everything back together, now everything is working normal
what happened? driver did major error in cmos? do i need to be concerned for anything else? this build is only half a year old...

Hi Nemesis,

What drive did you recently install? Is it detected in the BIOS?

installed this
Audio_Win7-8-81-10_V6017525
my C drive, the windows one
and as i said, after reseting cmos, its now perfectly fine... sounds working, graphics are still fine, everything is top notch... but the fact that that happened is worrying

I meant, what hard drive/ssd was installed.

Right now it's really speculating, but it's possible that the BIOS stopped detecting the drive.

The msinfo data collection usually takes some time, even on fast computers.

Could you please confirm that you've managed to activate Windows 10? In your previous thread, you mentioned the following:

was hacked, and i tried to do it again and it wasnt having it, it was a digital upgrade form a hack win7, i tried several more times in different ways and after a bunch of time i gave up
and that was all on previous hardware that i changed
oh and for some reason, that one was telling me it was about to expire, pop up message once every startup, after a week it was twice, and i even called microsoft to see if i could make it stop and told me because i changed hardware, i need the cdkey form win7, i couldnt provide cuz it was hacked

it was a hacked windows 7 that i upgraded to windows 10 which somehow made it officially *activated*, and microsoft was completely okay with it
so i guess it was activated? it did say it was activated in the windows information pane in control panels

With any activation hack, Windows will think it's activated, but that doesn't mean the activation is legitimate.

anyway as i said, i bought a win10, reinstalled everything on a new drive, used the freshly legal activation and its fine now,
i was only concerned about the random no boot after sound driver update, it hasnt done it since i fixed it by reseting cmos, i also havnt tried reinstalling that driver, and im not going to, sound is working, so what ever o-O
