New system with high interrupt to process latency

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing a bit of a different latency problem with my new PC. (initial issue with latencymon log in detail described here: https://www.red dit.com/r/MSI_Gaming/comments/m559kq/audio_popping_caused_by_latency_from_single_core/)

To make things brief: My new PC was experiencing audio popping, cutouts like in this video:
Further, my mouse/PC was lagging while videos played and I moved my mouse. The issue primarily arose when playing videos and moving the mouse or otherwise using system resources (like starting programs). As described in the reddit post, I tried pretty much everything (HPET, global c states, low current latency, reinstalling windows, all drivers, disabling XMP, testing RAM individually, energy savings options, updated nvme drivers, disbaled unused usb/lan ports, etc. I went through pretty much every reddit thread on latency audio issues). I did not experience stutter, lag or audio cutouts when playing games, only video, audio files directly (either directly files or played in Chrome or Firefox on youtube, vimeo etc).

This issue arose after I installed a new CPU cooler in my system. Before I replaced the cooler, no issues came up. I then found latencymon, which showed both high DPC latency and interrupt to process latency issues. (original report in reddit post). This issue persisted for several days. I then unexpectedly fixed the issue by taking my GPU out of the motherboard and plugging it back in (I had to take out the GPU to install the new CPU cooler).

This fixed every issue, but one. In latencymon, I still get very high average "process to interrupt latency". This is usually around 500 for me, when new systems should be around 100 (My friend who has pretty much the same built as me gets around 120). My GPU or PCIe slot was also not the issue causing this, as I tested another GPU and the second PCIe slot, but latency remained unchanged. I also tested the RAM individually, and without XMP, no change. (disabling XMP actually caused my latency to rise, what does this point to?) Also, after I close video games, my PC lags for a second or two.

I attached the new latencymon log file. I also uploaded my trace and SysnativeFileCollectionApp zip files, screenshots from driver verifier and my speccy link. Please tell me if I need to run the windows performance analyser for longer (for a larger trace file).

Regarding the current status of my system, I have the following questions:
1. Is the current measured latency on my system a potential problem (i.e. could it cause issue, since I am currently not experiecing many, which doesnt mean there are none).
2. What issues could be caused by this?
3. What can I do to lower my latency (which I guess at this point just means replacing hardware)?

I thank you all for your help, I think the tip to replug your GPU came from this forum, so you fixed my inital problem. Have a nice day.

Hey Guys,

I have an Update! After installing Windows on my HDD instead of my SSD and disabling my SSD, my latency issues completely disappeared, my Interrupt latency is now under 100. The Interrupt to process latency is actually under 50!

So what does this mean?
1. Is my SSD broken?
2. Is my First nvme Slot broken? I have a second SSD Slot, but this one is slower. Is this going to be noticeable? I want Windows on a SSD.

Thank you for any additional help it would be greatly appreciated!

Hey,

I tried all the drivers/ optimizations already, didnt Work. So I dont think its a Driver issue. Luckily my SSD is Gen 3 and I plugged it into the Gen4 Slot could this be the cause of the issue? I also wont loose Performance from Slot 2 If I understand it correctly.

I will try installing the SSD into my secondary nvme Slot. Do you know if I can do so without Data loss or do I need to clean install Windows for that?

Could you also please delete the links in my original Post to speccy and the Download links? Since they are not useful anymore. Thanks!

Another Update:

The Problems completely went away after I installed my SSD in my second NVME slot. Can someone please delete the links in my first post, as they are not necessary anymore? Thank you.

Whan you physically changed the SSD from the first to second slot, did your system boot into Windows ok or did you have to use some intermediary step? How is your system running now? Still without the latency spikes?
