My grandma has a Win10 laptop and does not use it too much. She asked me for help as the login password is incorrect. I booted into safe mode and launched command prompt. when I try to use Net User command to reset the password, got an error message saying "access denied".

Any other way around to fix this issue?

Have you tried running Command Prompt with administrative privileges? Please enter the following at command prompt and then try your command again.

Code:
runas /user:administrator cmd

Alternatively, have you tried booting with the hidden Administrator user and then resetting the password from there? Please enter the following command in Command Prompt and then reboot.

Code:
net user administrator /active:yes

You shouldn't require a password to login.

In general.the command prompt is enought to solve the Windows password login issues,i'm not very clear exactly how you did it.

I searched online and many people recommend this but not working in my case, really sad
I didn't expect things to get so bad.But about Windows 10,there are many ways.
Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor
Cain and Abel – SecTools Top Network Security Tools
Windows 10 Password Reset Tool - Reset Win 10 Password in Seconds
I have only tested them on Windows 10 pc,but i am not sure if they are work on your grandma's laptop.
If they are still fail, reinstalling Windows 10.

I have Window 7 Laptop and my password is lost by mistake. Can this software help me with Windows password reset? If no, then please suggest me other programs that are able to recover my lost password.

Just enable the hidden Administrator account and see if you're able to reset the your password from there.
