Hi,

I have an issue where .Net 4.8 will not install. The installation fails on KB4486129 part of the installation.

I have downloaded KB4486129 from the catalogue and tried to install on its own, but this also fails.

SFC /scannow
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

Chkdsk c: /r /b - returns no corruptions

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth -

ComponentsScanner -

Sequence numbers do not match! Hive is dirty and the transition logs should be reviewed for relevant data!

Sequance missmatch! Primary = 250874. Secondary 250873

Hi,

SFCFix ran successfully.

DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth - Completed without any issues.

Tried to install .Net 4.8 again and still failed.
Tried to install KB4486129 manually and still failed

Hi,

.Net 4.8 now says that its already installed after this latest fix, even though its not installed.

I am checking to see if you still need help with this thread. If not we can mark this thread as solved.

Hi, Sorry i am still working on this. .net now installs correctly, but keeps crashing when a piece of software is trying to use it.

Hi,

Okay, please use the following tool to see if it reports any errors with the current .NET versions.

Download the
60fe7f9d70500-NetFxRepairTool_107-1.png
Microsoft .NET Framework Repair tool and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right-click on NetFxRepairTool.exe and select Run as Administrator.
  • Agree with the license terms "I have read and accept the license terms" and click Next.
  • After checking, the tool will indicate which problems need to be fixed.
  • Click on Next to continue, when this process is finished click Next.
  • The tool will now collect the log files... > when completed the following file is created: FixDotNet****.cab.
  • Click on Finish to close the tool.
  • Right-click on the file FixDotNet****.cab and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Attach the ZIP file in your next reply.

There are no errors reported for .NET itself, so I wonder if this is an application issue which may cause the issues.
