This problem seems to have started around 10 April. Not exactly sure of the day, but that is likely based on the initial problem symptoms and the start of the CBS.log file on that date. The week before 15 April, while trying to get my taxes done with TurboTax, my system would sort of freeze. Cursor would continue to move but no programs would continue and no disk activity light. Only a hard reboot would resolve the issue and that only for a few minutes after the reboot when it would return. After a few rounds of this, I tried a SFC /scannow but that would not run. Chkdsk run on the drive connected externally to a different system showed no errors.
Having to get my taxes done, I took a chance that it was the 480GB Inland SSD and replaced it with the 240GB Kingston that I happened to have. Fortunately I was only at 220GB used so I was able to restore from a backup to the 240GB partition. That seem to clear the problem and I was able to work for the next few days and get all the taxes completed.
Since the new disk drive resolved the problem, I ordered a new Crucial MX500 480GB drive, cloned the Kingston and installed it. Now the original "freeze" problem was back! A few minutes after reboot the system stops responding except for cursor movement. Reinstall Kingston and things run perfectly. Tried several times, using Easeus clone, Acronis clone and a restore from backup rather than clone all with the same results. Kingston works, neither 480GB drive will work. Although the Inland 480 GB drive had been working since last October, just to test for some new size issue, I reinstalled the original 500 GB Seagate HD and that performed perfectly.
Back to trying to track this, I started again with SFC which again would not run. DISM returns: "No component store corruption detected. The operation completed successfully." regedit does not show and HKLM\Components key.
Landing here at sysnative.com after tracking down results related to the error loading HKLM\Components, I went through your troubleshooting steps and ran SFCFix, which was not successful. I have attached the CBS.log in a .zip file with the SFCFix.log included in the .zip.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I only include the SSD drive issue for the sake of complete information. That may or may not be related to the HKLM\Components errors.
