modern setup host error when updating from windows 7

the guys over at the windows update forum tried a bunch of things but was unable to help. he referred me here. trying to update for a few weeks now, that message just keeps popping up after the download and almost at the end of installing. i dont know what else i can do.this is the last post from BrianDrab:


"OK, your logs are clean. At this point it's not a Windows Update/Servicing issue and more of a software/hardware issue. What I would suggest is that you post an inquiry in our Windows 10 forum where the experts there have much more knowledge on software/hardware than many of us here in the Windows Update forum.

They may have even seen this or have a resolution for it. I am sorry we couldn't help you further in this forum."

I have never seen this personally but I am finding a bunch of examples where others have. Sadly, there does not seem to be an easy solution. I found this which may offer some help. Please keep us posted.

ok i tried all of it. i even tried using the media creation tool and downloading windows 10 to a 64gig blank flash drive and booting windows 10 from it, still same error.

How much free disk space do you have on your boot drive?

64gig. it erases everything on whatever flashdrive you use, it said.

Please list your hardware, in particular the motherboard brand or model, or PC brand and model if factory built.

I did see where your C drive is showing 50Gb of free space, which should still be enough.
