Microsoft-Windows-Unified-Telemetry-Client corrupt files: "utc.app.json" & "teleme...

Hello there, currently I'm having a problem in resetting my Windows 8.1 laptop to fabric settings.

Dont know if this is usefull: but it's an ASUS laptop with x64 processor

I've done a great amount of things in trying to solve it.

This is (part of) the current log I'm getting after having done the "sfc /scannow" scan in admin command prompt.

It seems that there is something wrong in: "telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json" with the files "utc.app.json" and "telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json"

I already tried the program SFCFix.exe but this program could not detect the corrupted files:
SFCFix version 2.4.5.0 by niemiro.

Microsoft Windows 8.1 Update 3 - amd64
Not using a script file.

I also tried these two methods that Microsoft offered: Microsoft-Windows-Unified-Telemetry-Client files corrupted - Microsoft Community
(deleting the "IconCache.db" in "C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local" AND running "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth" & "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth"

I have no clue what to do now so I'm here looking for some help. Somebody out there who can and is willing to help me :D?

Thank you a lot in advance,
Kind regards,
Stijn

Re: Microsoft-Windows-Unified-Telemetry-Client corrupt files: "utc.app.json" & "telem

Hi Stijn :)

These files are falsely reported as corrupt by SFC. Microsoft is aware of this situation and they said that this issue will be fixed in a later update. These files aren't corrupt and they won't affect anything on your system. You can leave it be without any consequences. For more information, see the Microsoft Article below.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3022345

This update contains the following files that are occasionally updated by the Diagnostic Tracking Service:

telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json
utc.app.json

The two files are marked as static files in the update. When an advanced user runs the System File Checker Tool (sfc.exe), the files are unintentionally flagged as corrupted. There is no impact or actual corruption on a device running this update, and a later service update will resolve this issue.

Re: Microsoft-Windows-Unified-Telemetry-Client corrupt files: "utc.app.json" & "telem

Firstly; Thank you so much for your quick response!!

Hmm okay, so I should wait for the update and than I could reset my laptop?

Also: Does this affect anything on if I can upgrade to windows 10 or not.

Re: Microsoft-Windows-Unified-Telemetry-Client corrupt files: "utc.app.json" & "telem

No problem :)

We don't know when Microsoft will push out an update to patch this, so I cannot tell. Your Factory Reset issue most likely lie down somewhere else. Also, this won't affect your upgrade to Windows 10, no.
