Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4

Came across an interesting tool that I didn't know existed a while back and I actually really like it: Download Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4 (archive) from Official Microsoft Download Cente

It's got quite a few interesting features and there are some features intended for programmers as well. :thumbsup2:

Cool. Never heard of it before. Will try it when I get home. How does it compare with Download Microsoft Message Analyzer from Official Microsoft Download Cente ?

The link you posted doesn't seem to be valid, so I'm not sure how it compares yet haha :) I believe it still uses low-level calls similar to WireShark but I have yet to confirm that.

Edit: Never used the Message Analyzer before so I don't have a say in that comparison. :grin1:

From my reading of the docs the Microsoft Message Analyser is a newer version of/function superset of the Network Monitor.

Right. That tool is archived because Microsoft Message Analyzer replaced it.

Even so -- before Microsoft came out with the tool that supersedes it, I never knew they had such programs. I've been using suites like Sysinternals and others for the longest time. It's not very well advertised, but I'm sure they have tons of other programs like these.

You are right - it is not very well advertised and certainly not well documented. I doubt many would know how to take full advantage of it.
