To those who have or are now serving their country, thank you.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
 
Back in 2012 I went on a school trip to France and Belgium with a focus on WWI/WWII and we visited lots of cemeteries.

The one thing that struck me about the British cemeteries was that they were all the same. Every one of them was immaculate. There were also so many of them, you could go more than 10 minutes without seeing one by the side of the road. Some where small with <10 graves and some were huge but they were all just as well kept as each other.

I imagine seeing the 15 year-old soldier's grave must have been a somber moment, Stephen.
