Hi everyone
My daughters laptop battery was not charging so she got a new one and that would not charge, she asked me to look at it, it is a Acer Aspire running windows vista, i cleaned all contacts and tried another charger but no luck, i then removed the battery device from device manager but again no luck, i also removed the battery and mains charger and pressed the start button for 20 seconds and it still would not charge.
I decided to update from vista to windows 7 doing a clean install, when it was fully installed i noticed the battery was charging, it did this for two days but today it is not charging, i updated all drivers but still no luck, can anyone help me please.

It could be a couple of things...bad/worn out battery, bad/worn out charger or the slot/port where the charger is plugs into the laptop is bad/broken. Since you say you bought a new battery and that doesn't work leave the charger. Try replacing the charger or better yet see if you can barrow a known good working charger and see it that works. If not then you will need to take it to have it serviced to see if the charging port is bad.

Hi, Thanks for the help, i tried a different charger but still the same, what i have noticed is that while i was using the laptop to update it i noticed it was charging slowly even though it still says not charging, after a few hours of use it was fully charged, i am beginning to think it may be something on the motherboard.

That's why I suggested the port/slot....the contact or solder joint inside may be partially loose/broken, which is attached to the mobo. If that's the case, then it would diffidently need to be taken to a qualified service center.
