Hello, KB3045171 Fails to Install on my computer. Error 80073712. I have tried to upload my CBS.zip file, but the uploader gets to 100% but then doesn't let me select the file to attach it. Not sure if this is relevant, but my computer occasionally snags with a slow cursor before going back to normal. Had malware months ago that has been fully cleared off the computer, but not sure if that caused this corrupted file issue or not. Please let me know if there are other ways I can attach CBS.zip, using Google Chrome, and quite computer literate. Thanks for your help, much appreciated. Log below:

Hi and welcome to Sysnative.

The two telemetry corruptions that you show above are a known issue and can safely be ignored. Microsoft is working on the issue. More info follows.

This update contains the following two manifests that are occasionally updated by the Diagnostic Tracking Service:

telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json
utc.app.json

The two files are marked as static files in the update. When an advanced user runs the System File Checker Tool (sfc.exe), the files are unintentionally flagged as corrupted. There is no impact or corruption on a device that is running this update, and this issue will be fixed in a later service update.

To check and see if you have any other corruption that needs fixed, please do the following.

Step#1 - System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)
1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Thank you. Please do the following to gather more info.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Perfect. Now do the following.

Step#1 - Fix Corrupt/Missing Files
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests
  6. Ignore the Packages folder
  7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
  8. When the SURT finishes installing, zip up and attach the following log file:

Thank you. Now I need your COMPONENTS registry hive. Please do the following.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.
