so i probably have a similar issue like this here(, but without any scannow issues..:
[SOLVED] - [Win7SP1 x64] sfc /scannow reports problems

the CBS tool didnt find any errors and this is the only log that contains "kb3033929" (it's not even in the hotfix.txt file and Frst app didnt even find any "kb4012218"):

Code:
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (x64) Version: 17-02-2021 01
Boot Mode: Normal

================== Search Registry: "KB3033929" ===========

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\ApplicabilityEvaluationCache\Package_for_KB3033929~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1]

====== End of Search ======

and when i ran "wusa /uninstall /KB:3033929" then it said that the update isnt even installed at all...

Copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\cbs\cbs.log to your desktop.
Copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\cbs\CheckSUR.log to your desktop.
Zip the 2 files on your desktop and attach the zipped file to your next reply.

Attach the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20210212062032.cab to your next reply.

FRST Registry Search
  1. Click the Start button and choose Control Panel.
  2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
  3. Select the Programs group.
  4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Server Manager dialog.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps. You can minimize it if you wish but keep it open.
  5. Right-click on the file FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
  6. Copy and paste KB3033929 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
  7. When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'SearchReg.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also. Close Notepad and attach the file 'SearchReg.txt' to your next reply.
  8. You may close any remaining open windows now.

that result is in the "kb218-kb303b.txt" files in the first log attachment (+some hotfix and deepclean test that i made from the other thread)

I just wandered if you did the steps 1 till 4 shown in my previous message also.

  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

log says "=> removed successfully", and when i tried to install the update manually, it said that it is already installed again...
and now i can check more stuff tomorrow...
ps: i probably have like a system with sp1 + updates slipstreamed into it, so could that be some issue with it...

I 'm a bit confused. You don't follow the instructions I tell you and edit the log files I ask. I 'm not sure to provide another fix.

i have to copy them from another pc, so its a bit easier to just paste the text, rather than the whole file...
and what does the rest even matter if the result is the same in the log file too:

Please explain why.

I have to rely on the information you provide and the information in the log files to provide a next step of fix. If log files are edited information can be missed.

You started this thread on a problem with KB3033929.
In your first post you say that KB3033929 isn't installed. In message #11 you say it is installed.
What are the issues you have on that machine ?

i'm not logged in to the forum on that pc, but it's having some issues with installing a program that somehow is looking for this update, but can't find it, so it just haults the installation...
so i was also guessing that i can do the whole kb removal+reboot process again to test something else if the kb re-install still failed now... (it said again that it is already installed somehow, while i just removed that package thing...)

KB3033929 is a security update. What program are you trying to install ?

it's probably kinda rare stuff, so it won't even have any common fix or smth... but would it be possible to add some registry entry somehow, so that the hotfix checker would also see the update? because when that one sees it, then the other ones should too?

I don't how to do that.

Export registry as hive
  • Click on the Start button and in the search box, type regedit
  • When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing
  • Once selected, click File > Export....
  • Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*).
  • Name this file ComponentBasedServicing (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right-click on the saved file and choose Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
  • Attach the .ZIP file to your next post.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, please upload to WeTransfer and just provide the link here.

For some reason the FRST fix didn't work.

Download the attachment and extract it.
Open the extracted folder, double-click the file regfix.reg.
When prompted allow to change the registry settings.
Report the result.
