If you’re a long-time Windows insider, you've probably noticed that some recent Windows 10 preview builds shipped with software compatibility issues that caused some antivirus programs to fail to work correctly, including here products developed by Kaspersky.

Given the fact that Kaspersky is one of the top security companies around the world and its antivirus solutions are among the top rated in the majority of tests, it’s easy to use why users are seeking a workaround and contacting the company to provide updates that would eventually make everything run more smoothly on Windows 10 preview builds.

But in a recent statement, the team at Kaspersky explains that not only is running the antivirus solution on Windows 10 preview builds not possible right now, but it’ll never be, as the company doesn’t want to support early versions of the operating system.

Buggy builds lead to buggy software

The reason is that it’s impossible to guarantee that the antivirus solution is 100 percent effective, considering that Windows 10 preview builds could be unstable and buggy. And this is clearly a reason that makes sense, especially because Microsoft introduces changes in every new build.

This makes sense to me too. Preview builds, in effect, are beta versions of what's to come. And like all beta versions, they not only include changes, they are subject to change before final release. I don't see how any anti-malware program could promise coverage. Even Windows Defender though it may have an insiders advantage.
