I"m running Windows 10 -1809 - 64 bit on my Acer Nitro 5 laptop. It has i7 processor (8th generation), Memory and Storage: 8GB DDR4 RAM upgradeable upto 32GB RAM with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB GDDR5 VRAM Graphics | Storage: 16GB Intel Optane+1TB HDD

Since past one week, I'm getting failed installation of windows update. Troubleshooting the windows update doesn't find any error, neither does sfc /scannow command in administrator command prompt. I also restarted my laptop several times but the issue persists. The dates seen in the windows updates are weird. My time zone is set to automatic and I use network provided time. I never change my time zone. I bought my laptop in March 2019, and always keep my drivers and windows update. What exactly is going wrong with windows update?

I am not using virtual machine. I never installed any virtual machine software on this laptop. Moreover, there is one and only user account which logs in this laptop i.e. of me, an admin account solo.

Initially I had NVIDIA driver version 425.31. Running the NVIDIA driver detection tool in internet explorer gave information about the latest driver update available (version 430.39 WHQL, release date April 23, 2019)

I tried installing the latest NVIDIA drivers but ran into the following error.

Then I removed the NVIDIA and intel drivers via display driver uninstaller, rebooted my system, then tried installing INTEL drivers again via intel driver support assistant. Then I rebooted and tried to install NVIDIA drivers but ran into the same error. I performed clean installation every time while installing the NVIDIA drivers.

Now the situation has become even worse. There is no NVIDIA driver installed on my system and I cannot install any NVIDIA drivers manually as well.

I successfully updated my BIOS to 1.25 recently in order to try solving this trouble. But the BIOS update hasn't done anything positive to solve this issue.

Talking about INTEL drivers, the driver support assistant keeps showing always three updates which I download but it keeps showing them repeatedly no matter how many times I update my intel drivers via driver support assistant.

The Wireless AC9560 drivers are already installed and need no updating because the latest updated drivers via intel driver support assistant don't do a fresh installation and instead ask for change, repair or remove the existing drivers.

The bluetooth drivers install by showing tiny blinking blue circles arranged in a circular way.

Updating the intel graphics drivers via the device manager shows the following error.

And no display drivers show up in my device manager.

I ran SFC fix and DISM tools.

Sharing their screenshots.

What should I do to resolve this issue?

Hello and welcome!

Step 1 - Replace Drivers Hive Manually

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download DRIVERS.ZIP and save to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract.
  3. Now we have the DRIVERS file that we will be using to replace your current one.
  4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  5. Right-click on the current DRIVERS file and select rename. Rename it to DRIVERS.bad.
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  6. Take the file from the Drivers folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config

Afterwards, reboot and see if the drivers install.
