I was kid at the time, and thought that things had gone wrong, when the top half took off, and the bottom half of it stayed on the surface.

I was a little kid at the time; we were on a family vacation at Howe Caverns, Schoharie County, New York. It was our last night there as we were leaving for St. Pete Beach, Florida, the next day.
