[SOLVED] I can't install Windows 10 64-bit through Bootable USB.

Hello!

So, I'm trying to Install 64-bit Windows 10 but my laptop won't boot up from USB at all. My current Windows 10 is 32-bit, my proccesor is 64-bit. I have tried extracting an ISO file and then open the setup.exe from there and it just says this app can't run on yours pc. However if I try to open the 32-bit setup.exe it works just fine.

The issue with the bootable USB is, I go to the screen where it says "Press any key to boot from USB" I press any key and then it just restarts. I have set my BIOS boot to USB so it just keeps doing this thing over and over again until I change the boot order. I can't go past the "Press any key to boot from USB", yes the keyboard works since after I press any key, the screen just goes black and restarts. Can I get some help regarding this?

How have you created the bootable USB? Did you use anything like Rufus?

I tried with Rufus and Windows Media Creation Tool both didn't work, Rufus has the press any key to boot from USB but Windows Media Creation one doesn't. But they still just end up restarting after going blank.

Have you made sure you've removed any third-party firewalls and AV programs?

Okay, please open an elevated command prompt and then enter the following commands:

echo %PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE% >> %userprofile%\Desktop\Computer.txt
fltmc filters >> %userprofile%\Desktop\Computer.txt

You should see a file named Computer.txt saved to your Desktop. Please attach it in your next post.

Additionally, have you ensured you have the latest firmware update(s)? It might be worthwhile using the Windows 10 Update Assistant to at least get the latest x86 build of Windows 10: Download Windows 10

I don't have the latest firmware since my laptop is quite old and I'm not sure how it would handle it. But I will try.

You haven't got an x64 processor, it looks like it is only x86, which is why you aren't able to install the x64 version of Windows 10. You're best just using the update assistant which I mentioned earlier.

But in system properties it does show x64 based processor. That is why I tried this in the first place. I have also tried checking with SecurAble.

Odd, that your environment variable is different to what is displayed there? Have you checked to see what something like CPU-Z says?

You're running Windows 10 Enterprise on a x64 system with 2GB RAM? Why? Where did you get that .ISO from? I noted that you originally had Windows 7 and struggled to upgrade that to Windows 10.

Yes but I installed an older version of Windows 10. No, I haven't checked CPU-Z. I'll try. I had a friend share the ISO in mega.

I would check in CPU-Z and make sure it is actually x86-x64 and then make sure you download an edition of Windows 10 which you have a licence for. That Enterprise .ISO is probably cracked.

If all else fails, then download an older build of Windows 10 Home (try the same version number) from UUPDump using these instructions: How to perform an in-place upgrade of an insider build using the latest ISO from UUP dump

You can ignore the part about the insider builds.

The processor is 64-bit. In CPU-Z it shows EM64T.

Okay, try and download a older Windows 10 build from UUPDump which isn't an Enterprise edition and then do a clean install with that. If that fails, then the issue is likely to do with your firmware, since that is typically why older machines fail to upgrade to certain builds of Windows 10.

Yes, it's the same machine.

I finally could install the 64-bit Windows 10 Pro. Turns out Rufus and Windows Media Creation Tool doesn't work. WinToBoot worked however. Thank you very much guys!

Strange, I've never had any problems with using Rufus and the .ISO created by the MCT. At least, WinToBoot seemed to work for you.
