Hello ,

Sometime back I configured Hyper V in my windows 8 64bit laptop and it worked fine for a while.Suddenly from next week the VM wouldnt connect,I could start the vm but when I try to connect ,it gives me an error.Below are some troubleshooting I did.

checked eventviewer logs and found a problem with kernalbase.dll causing dll so I executed sfc /scan ,in fact I followed the same steps mentioned at your below thread

https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...-resource-protection-found-corrupt-files.html

my logs says something about hyper v but I dont understand what that means so I am attaching it here for you to check.

I have also tried disabling it and re enabling hyper v from control panel >>windows components ,didnt work out, same issue.

With hyper-v there are few services starts but ever since it stopped working only one service is running (hyper v virtual machine management)ohter services wouldnt start .I tried to create new VM but same problem .

I dont know if I am troubleshooting in right direction or not but I have tried everything to make it work but it wouldnt.

I have added some screenshots as well for you to see,,whats the error,

Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you in advance.

Hi tusharT,

Which account is the service configured to run under? Is it the Local Service account?

local system account.jpgYes you are right. All of the services are configured to run as local user which has administrator rights .I am attaching the screenshot for the clarification.

Excellent, that's what I suspected.

Please choose the 'This account' option, click the 'Browse' button, then in the search box type Local Service and click Search.
This should cause Local Service to become underlined. Click OK on that window, then click OK again on the service properties window.

Next, right click on the service and choose the option to start it. Let me know if that produces an error.

I tried what you've mentioned but it gives me different error which is attached herewith and I guess I don't know the local service account password neither my IT team,
so please suggest what can be done.local service error.JPG

The password box does not need to be filled for the Local Service account.

All of the Hyper-V services with the exception of the time service (which is using Local Service) should be set to run under the Local System account.

Hyper-V Data Exchange Service : Local System account
Hyper-V Guest Service Interface: Local System account
Hyper-V Guest Shutdown Service: Local System account
Hyper-V Heartbeat Service: Local System account
Hyper-V Host Compute Service: Local System account
Hyper-V PowerShell Direct Service: Local System account
Hyper-V Remote Desktop Virtualization Service: Local System account
Hyper-V Time Synchronization Service: Local Service
Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management: Local System account
Hyper-V Volume Shadow Copy Requestor: Local System account

All of the Hyper-V services startup type should be Manual, with the exception of the Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service, which should be set to Automatic.

As you recommended I changed the start up type for all services to manual and tried to change the logon type for Hyper v management console service but it wouldn't start with local service account and the same with other services it wouldn't start at all again I am attaching some screenshot might help you to further investigate,

If you would like to see it by yourself ,we can do a remote session if possible so that you can look up the things by yourself too.
If I change the logon type hyper v mmc service ,the only running service also stops and no change in other services.error on starting hyper v mmc.JPGhyper vsunch service.JPGvirtual management service.JPG

You might want to check my other troubleshooting that I already did if that gives you any clue + if any hyper v components are damaged then how do we know which are broke and how to fix those ?
