I am moving to a new location and will cancel my current cable internet until I get settled. In the meantime I would like to do a Zoom conference using a wifi hotspot. From the Zoom tech support I learned this:

For group video calling:
  • For high-quality video: 1.0 Mbps/600kbps (up/down)
  • For 720p HD video: 2.6Mbps/1.8Mbps (up/down)
  • For 1080p HD video: 3.8Mbps/3.0Mbps (up/down)
  • For gallery view receiving: 2.0Mbps (25 views), 4.0Mbps (49 views)

How do I test the speed of my wifi hotspot in order to see if it meets the requirements?

I've usually used speedtest.net to test the speed of my internet connection. They have apps for mobile or you can use their website from a desktop system.

I also use speedtest.net. But note this tests your whole connection, not just the hotspot. And it is important to note others sharing that hotspot will be sharing the bandwidth with you.

Last, most, if not all, internet connections are marketed as having speeds "up to" an advertised bandwidth. So if paying for this, check your contract.
