When I want to scan a document I have to go to Settings>Devices>Printers and Scanners>click on my Brother printer/scanner>select scanner and then I finally see:

Is there a way to make a shortcut?

That's what I don't understand. I downloaded and installed the whole package:

Brother drivers.jpg

I have the printer and scanner drivers, but there is no Brother folder in my Start menu, no icons, nothing. I've downloaded software packages a dozen times and it always creates a new folder containing shortcuts to the settings, icons, etc. Not this time. 😕

Logging in as Admin must have made a difference. I was able to download all drivers ... and a lot of junk that I'll later uninstall. Thanks for the help. I made a donation in appreciation.
