So, Hyper-V decided to stop working on my PC, which is what brought me here. After a day of messing about I am just going for a clean install - I see people have moaned that the 8 to 8.1 could have affected it, but I have tried ALL sorts of things to no avail. The Hypervisor runs, but I can't connect to the machine.

Anyway, I am 44 and find myself having to get some certifications since I moved to the UK from South Africa. Apparently 15 years of running an IT business & doing all the installations personally (CCTV, Server, Desktop, Point of Sale) means nothing when you are looking for a job. I had a nice little lab setup with DD-WRT router, Server 2012, and Windows 8.1, then I got sidetracked and came back to it only to find I couldn't connect to anything.

I am passionate about all things tech because I get a kick out of solving problems. I enjoy gaming online - Battlefield (haven't bought 4 because I didn't want to get sucked in), Dota 2, World of Warcraft (which I quit), LOTRO, Age of Dragons & Mass Effect recently.

I enjoy beer & I am also a hobbyist web designer proficient in Joomla, CSS Frameworks (Foundation/Bootstrap), and I can get around JavaScript, PHP & MySQL.
