Hey Everyone

Hi Tomshawk, welcome to Sysnative! :welcome:

jcgriff2 owns the site, but you can PM any of us if you need anything. :thumbsup2:

He's the one that told me about the site, but I didn't put 2 and 2 together that it was his. LOL

No worries, just curious as I saw admin. ;)

John and I opened it last year, Corrine quickly followed as did many of the other admin.

Together we make a very effective and active team not found many other places.

Welcome to Sysnative

If you have any questions my name is Geoff.

Sidenote, I like your avatar.

Hey Laxer,

Thanks for the welcome and info. It's nice to know a littler about who you are talking to.

I don't know John persay, just from what I have seen on Techsupportforum.com

I hope that changes between these sites over time.

I met John over at TSF a few years back. I was at one point Design Team Manager there but have since stepped down.

This is now my only and primary residence :grin1:

John loves to talk and enjoys sharing his stories. With frequent things like "Paige Alerts" he always has something interesting to say.

Ah, design team, are you the one that works on the look and feel of the site?

It looks nice, well done, though the white background if a bit bright, of course, I tend to keep the lights low at night, so, well, everything's a bit bright. LOL

The latest skin was done by Stephen(Tekno Venus).

Design covers a wide spectrum at TSF. I am more of a server sided specialist than a web designer. I work more on the backend work to get the pages working correctly and keeping the server online. PHP/SQL/SSH are fairly common.

If you're interested in that route we have quite a few skilled people here. I work a lot with the backend, Wmorri(current Design manager at TSF) works with HTML5, Tekno Venus and Will Watts have been working quite a bit with vB and Aceinfinity knows some of everything.

We all run in a million directions but at the same time are a great hub of knowledge if you are interested. (This applies to just about anything, hardware, networking, bluescreens...)

Ah, I know vbulletin pretty well, been running it for years.

I know html but basics only.

When and if I ever need assistance I may take you up on it, thank you.
I'm a Windows Server / Domain / Networking guy

I do have something I want to do, actually 2 things, I PM'd John about one the other seems to costly. A guy told me it would cost about $10,000 which just seems retarded, but... I'm no programmer

Anyway, thanks

Pricing for developing code is incredibly subjective!

If you have great ideas I am sure John can think of some way to help or accommodate you.

Sounds you like you do some of the work I have to do remotely. I have never been very good at networking things, aside from setting up and secure ports I am a noob :lolg:

Well, the job I PM'd John about is more about his opinion but didn't want to post it in the forums without his thoughts and ok.

the other I posted on TSF and I researched the reply I got and well, it just didn't seem feasable as stated by the person that replied, noting I dont know the product he recommended but I did alot of looking in the plugins for it, and nothing would do as I needed.

I do alot of my work remotely as well, Server maintenance, Remote maintenance of workstations, ACL's on routers, ETC

Hi Tomshawk and welcome to Sysnative :-)

Yes, I am the designer of the current Sysnative skin. It was the first project I took on here after joining as an admin late last year. Honestly, I am not am expert in CSS or HTML, I just learn it as I go along. Same with PHP, I know a fair bit but am nowhere near an expert. I learn as I go along :-)

If you do have any ideas for the design, please say. I will do what I can to make your wishes a reality.

We have a great team here with such a wide array of knowledge. You're sure to find something interesting :-)

Stephen

Hey Tekno

Thanks for the welcome, Nah, I have no ideas, at least not now. I was just curious, it looks very good, well done.

We all learn as we go. LOL Same here, never ending, thats for sure

Actually Tekno,

I just noticed

The link at the top of the screen, in this box for the MVP, goes to the wrong place, link says oops
