Hello everybody

i hope you can help me with this trouble i have with WGA and win7. A week ago i received my brand new SSD, where i meant to transfer my SO and programs patition (C: and E: respectively). After two days, two cloning software, several cloning attempts and an alignment, i was finally able to transer both partitions on my SSD.

That was July, 26th.

Two days after, July 28, i got my first messages that my copy of OEM Windows 7 was counterfeited as a brief message on the right corner of my screens: "Build 7601, this copy of windows is not genuine" or whatever it says in English (my copy is in italian). Windows is activated (as can be seen on the system proprierties in the control panel), further product key immissions dont change the situation: after several uptime hours (from 5 to 7, and i keep my PC on from 8 am to midnight: if i used my pc less id probably miss the message altogether), the desktop sign would appear and the popup would send me to a verification page on internet where it suggests to buy an additional license.

After a couple of started and aborted ex novo installation of my copy in the new partition, a manual activation in the CMD panel with slmgr.vbs -ipk myproductkey" e quindi "slmgr.vbs -ato"and a phone activation via slui4.exe with a Ms phone operator, i spoke (again) with another MS operator that would inform me that even if as a OEM licence owner i would be entitled to make a new installation on a new HD (SSD in my case) once, it resulted to him that i had done 3 different installations on 3 different HDs (or machines as he insisted to call them), being the new two of them on July, 30th, when i wasnt even home, thus inviting me to contact community support for further instruction. I have only performed two different installation: my first one back in 2011, and the cloning on July, 26th.

Ok, i have done so, but since i am starting to lose my faith in MS support, i have decided to two time them with someone else >:D

Here is the MGAdiag (as you can see it says its genuine, for now, since a just rerun my pc for doing a scandisk, it will take hours to identify my OS as counterfeited. the website check, though, ):

It can be interesting to know that when it says its not genuine, it gives a 0x8004fe21 error
Here is the link to my latest CBD.log, after a chkdsk /r c: and a sfc/scannow (its pretty smaller than the first time performed both: my first CBS was 53MB...)

http://sdrv.ms/18MIhjd

I can see there is a problem with sppwinob.dll, but i couldnt find any solution regarding that in particular.

Thank you in advance for your help :)

They usually issue a new key given the circumstances of a new HDD unless the new HDD is installed in a different system.

MS are very reluctant to issue new Keys.

The problem here is a fairly simple one, I suspect....

Code:
File Scan Data-->
File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\sppwinob.dll[6.1.7601.17514]
File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\en-us\user32.dll.mui[hr = 0x80070002]

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type

CHKDSK C: /R

and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, press Enter, and then reboot.

The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -
then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type

SFC /SCANNOW

and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

Copy the CBS.log file created (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and upload it to your SkyDrive Public folder (http://skydrive.live.com ) and post a link to it so that I can take a look.

Post a new MGADiag report with details of any error messages encountered.

hi noel, thank you for your concern :)

i already have done all that, and the CBS.log is uploaded in the skydrive address at the end of the first post. its a few KB so i didnt compress it, it should be readable directly there. ill copy and paste the link here:
http://sdrv.ms/18MIhjd

as for your guess, i just hoped something went ballistic during the cloning. the first CBS.log file after the first sfc was 53MB! I have run a couple after that, and his is the latest.

I'm not sure why the system hasn't picked up the missing MUI file - but I'll include it in the fix protocol Ill post a bit later.

I've uploaded a file - mafaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive

Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...

Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract

Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which
should be the option 'Repair my Computer'

Pick that

You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt

At the prompt type

DIR C:\mafaa

hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try

DIR D:\mafaa

or

DIR E:\mafaa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\mafaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type

EXIT

and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt

then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

ALso -
Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from System Update Readiness Tool fixes Windows Update errors in Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2008
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to a reply

Here i am. first of i would like to thank you for your time. it's really appreciated :)

I had some trouble making that "repair my computer" work. I didnt have any possible choice from the boot menu, and picking it from the windows installation page prompted a "This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows" so i had to find a workaround for that:

- loaded my windows dvd
- made sure that my dvd player was at the topmost layer in the BIOS boot menu
- made sure that my 2nd HD was not visible as a choice in said menu
- when at startup the brief "hit any key to boot from CD" prompted, i had to wait for that to go away and for the very same message in Italian to come before hitting the key...

sheesh...

In any case, i did both the copy of that file w/ sfc/scannow and the checkSUR, here are the logs

View attachment CheckSUR.log View attachment CBS.rar

That seems to have repaired everything except the two errors in the MGADiag report.

Please run the following commands, and post the results.

ICACLS C:\Windows\system32\sppwinob.dll

ICACLS C:\Windows\system32\en-us\user32.dll.mui

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

C:\Windows\system32>

as you may guess, Impossibile trovare il file specificato = file not found

..checking the files I sent you, I'm not surprised that the fix didn't work properly - I sent the SP1 version, rather than the RTM  :embarrasment5:

I'll get on it.

Sorry about the delay!

I've uploaded a file - mafab.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive

Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...

Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract

Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'

Pick that

You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt

At the prompt type

DIR C:\mafab

hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try

DIR D:\mafab

or

DIR E:\mafab

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\mafab <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type

EXIT

and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your SkyDrive Public folder, and post a new link

Also run a new MGADiag report, and post the result.

No - it simply hides the problem, without fixing anything.
If you have uninstalled it, please reinstall it.

Unfortunately it hasnt even hid the problem. The message had popped up as nothing has happened.
Did everything you said, this is the latest CBS.LOG http://sdrv.ms/16t687v
