Win 7 - Game crashing - StackHash/BEX error

hey there.

I've recently bought a new mobo + processor and installed Call of Duty4(COD4)

My specs are:
System - OS Win 7 x64
CPU - I5-5670K
Motherboard - Gigabyte Z87X-D3H iZ87
Memory - MB Kingston 8 GB DDR-1333
Graphics Card - GTX 570
Hard Drives - 2 X 2 TB Hitachi
Antivirus - Bitdefender
Browser - Chrome

Just a few seconds ago, i had to manually close my cod4 through the task manager since it was not responding anymore.

Since then i cant open the game anymore.
It is giving me the following error(copy'd from the report)

Problem signature:

I have google'd the issue and tried adding cod4 to the DEP exclusion list, but this didnt work.

Is there any1 out here who can help me with this issue ;)?

If you need more information, tell me asap and i will upload them here!

Kind regards,

Rik

p.s. i can open other games without any issues

New update.

When i uninstall my nvidia drivers the game opens like a charm(But wont run due to not having gfx drivers :D)

So the problem is my driver... how to fix that?

Ok installing older Gfx drivers seemed to do the trick for me.

Should i contact nvidia to make sure they will fix this bug?

FYI, the driver im on right now is 310.90 and the latest is 320.49

Bump

Updated to a 770 since my 570 broke :D

But now i keep getting the same issue, and i cant downgrade to lower then 320(drivers)

Any idea's?

I reinstalled windows and removed a windows update.

Exception code 0xc0000005 = memory access violation

It's possible that iw3mp.exe is too old for Windows 7 SP1 and may be improperly accessing memory regions off limits to it. June 2008 = Vista SP1 era.

I'm not a gamer and have not tested this -- just a theory.

Update COD4 if possible and see if the system stabilizes.

Hi there,

Thanks for your response.

what do you mean with update cod4? I'm running the latest patch and PB version of COD4 and nothing can be updated.

Is is possible that my RAM memory is messed up? Have 1333mhz ram and sitting on a 1600mhz motherboard(it supports 1333 tho).

I've played cod4 with my old setup, on windows 7 about 1 month ago, but then i upgraded to newer specs.

Its the fact that the nvidia drivers are messing things up i guess. When they are not installed I dont get the StackHash error, but the game wont start aswell since dirextx 9 is missing then :P And its with other games aswell.

So i dont really know whats up now :P I've been discussing here at work, possible answers?

Disable onboard GFX (drivers)(maybe they interfere with the nvidia drivers)
Reinstall windows 7, but then the x32/86 version. Maybe the nvidia drivers dont like my x64 version
Change ram> got 2 x4 GB ram 1333mhz. maybe upgrade to 2x4/4x4GB ram 1600

Please get back to me ASAP

Thanks in advance,

Rik

If you are getting the error when updating the nVidia drivers, it's possible you just may need to try a different version(s):

Ensure you have the latest video card drivers. If you are already on the latest video card drivers, uninstall and install a version or a few versions behind the latest to ensure it's not a latest driver only issue. If you have already experimented with the latest video card driver and many previous versions, please give the beta driver for your card a try.

Regards,

Patrick
