I've collected some files and followed the BSOD directions, but have been unable to run perfmon /report - even as an administrator - I receive the following message: "An error occured while attempting to generate the report", "The operator or administrator has refused the request" Regardless, here is what I was able to collect:

dism.log

And the file from running BSOD file collection:

I'll continue in a second post b/c I want to get this one up in case the system crashes again!

Post #2 - Answers to the Questions:

· OS - Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista ? Windows 8.1
· x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
· What was original installed OS on system? Windows 8 or possibly 8.1, but I think I upgraded from 8 to 8.1
· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? OEM
· Age of system (hardware) one year
· Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? one year - no re-install, lost disks, or not sure I ever had any, but I do have the product key

· CPU i5
· Video Card - don't know for sure, but it is a stock Dell inspiron 660
· MotherBoard
· Power Supply - brand & wattage (if laptop, skip this one)

· System Manufacturer - Dell
· Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom)

· Laptop or Desktop? Desktop

Post #3 - Still hoping for some help. Am I missing something?

Haven't yet received any help - computer still down. I even donated to the site (a long time ago), but still no joy. Am I missing something?

This thread is old so I wouldn't have recommended bumping it, nevertheless lets take a look.

Code:
Descriptor @ ffffe00002837138
Section @ ffffe000028372c0
Offset : 664
Length : 264
Flags : 0x00000000
Severity : Fatal
[COLOR="#FF0000"]
Error : Internal unclassified (Proc 0 Bank 4)[/COLOR]
  Status : 0xb200000000080402

We have an internal unclassified error, because it's unclassified we cannot find any information on it.
It is consistant in that it occurs on the primary processor and in the fourth memory bank.

I'd say your CPU is failing.
Do you have any other dump files to upload?

I suggest you do the following in order:

  1. Monitor your temperatures when idle and when performing a certain task that crashes the system (if there is one), reapply the thermal paste to the CPU if it's overheating.
  2. Clear the CMOS to remove any improper settings and overclocks How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS) [Easy, 10 to 15 Min]
  3. Remove any bloatware such as AI suite which can cause these errors.
  4. If all the above fails then I recommend you replace the CPU as it's most likely the cause, you could try testing it with another one to see if it continues.

Also, thank you for your donation to Sysnative, we really appreciate it.

Hello AlphaBob,

This error often indicates a failure with with Windows Update COMPONENTS hive. I cant seem to download the COMPONENTS hive that was provided. Can you please try and upload it with the following method:

SFCFix Collect COMPONENTS
  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. On your Desktop, you should now see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  4. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  5. SFCFix will now begin to upload your CBS logfiles to our server.
  6. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  7. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

If all goes well, you should see that your logfiles have now been added to your thread.
