Install Update with DISM

Download the update MSU here: http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fc7c2bb89d312c8184e367d2169d0c8fdcb97bf4.msu
Copy the MSU file to a convenient location (such as C:\temp).
Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

cd C:\temp
replace C:\temp with your path if different

expand windows6.1-kb4531786-x64_fc7c2bb89d312c8184e367d2169d0c8fdcb97bf4.msu -f:* C:\temp

DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\temp\windows6.1-kb4531786-x64.cab
You should receive the message:
The operation completed successfully.
Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.
If you receive any other message:
Post a screenshot of the Commandprompt window.
Zip and attach the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

KB4531786 installed successfully.

I've not restarted since this morning, not sure if that matters. The updates have not required a restart so far.

Step 1:
WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread only. No one else should follow these instructions, as it could damage your system.

Download the attachment SFCFixScript.txt and save it on your desktop.
Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
Drag the SFCFixScript.txt file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.
SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.

Step 2:
Check Windows Update again and report the result. Do not install any updates.
Copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log to your desktop.

SFCFix and CBS files are attached. The windows update reports the same four as message #1,144.

KB4534310 installed successfully. The required restart failed (again) and the computer went into system recovery (which I suspect uninstalls KB4534310). Eventually the computer restarted fine. This time there are five important updates listed, including KB4534310. Screen grab is attached. I think this is now the 4th KB4534310 attempt with the same outcome.

The update is asking for the restart. This was different than the prior four times. The downloaded file size was >500Mb and it took longer to get to the restart point.

CBS file is attached. I hope it restarts normally this time.

The KB4534310 post restart was the same. Restarted to system repair which removes the install. Important updates (post restart) and CBS file is attached. This looks to be the same list of updates.

FRST Registry Search

Click the Start button and in the search box, type CMD
When you see cmd.exe on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter afterwards.
Code:

REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS
```
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep the command prompt window open while you perform the remaining steps. You can minimize it if you wish but keep it open.
Right-click on the file FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
Copy and paste KB4534310 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'SearchReg.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also. Close Notepad and attach the file 'SearchReg.txt' to your next reply.
You may close any remaining open windows now.
