Well I (we) just dropped off my first born at her University (Mars Hill University), which is 7 hours away from us, yesterday. Holy hell that was the hardest thing I've had to do....I'm having a rougher time with this then my daughter is.

As a man, I didn't think it would be so difficult to let her go so she could start this chapter of her life. I'm an emotional wreck....and the wife is the strong one, the glue that is binding us all together through this. I sure wasn't expecting I'd be like this...had no clue it was going to be so difficult for me.

The good news is she made it through her first night in her dorm by herself and she has all ready made some new friends and going to FYS (first year student) sessions that the university has put together to fill the voids and down times that the new incoming students face until classes start on Tuesday.

Been there done that, only mine was only 45 minutes away at U of Del and after being moved in on Saturday showed up at home on Sunday asking what time dinner was...............gee it's been at 6oclock for the last 18 years you lived here what makes you think it changed this week?
Hardest part for me came 4 years later when she got a job and moved an hour away to her own apartment in Dover.

What freaking really concerns me (scares the crap out of me) is how the hell am I going to pay for this......$37K a year.

Forget the stupid stereotypes. You are a father and your little girl (yes, your daughter will always be your little girl) is growing up. Letting go of our children and watching them leave the nest is very difficult.

Good News....she is doing really good now....she's been hanging with a few new friends she made in her dorm and went to dinner (off campus) with her dorm roommate and her family....their treat. So a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders....and I can relax and settle down some.

Corrine....thank you so much for those kind words!
