Upon booting today, I got the scrolling bar for a long time, then the fatal error stated in title.Booting in safe mode gave me same error. Did system repair at least 6 times only to get error code 0xo, disk is corrupt. I keep getting these errors repetitively. This is my work computer that is used for my business, so I need to get it up and running, or at least be able to backup files. My backups are not appearing on my thumb drive - don't know why. Upon doing system repair using CD, it could not find a restore point which I just made 2 weeks ago. I'm desperate as this is used for work with all files on it. Can't get to a command prompt to run scannow. Tried running scannow from repair disk at an x:/ but said it couldn't be ran. Help. Thanks, D

Let us know after each step what the results were so we can decide whether to provide further steps. Best wishes you find the link helpful. Also, when running SFC /SCANNOW from the recovery options, you will need the following command: Code: sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=d:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\windows The above assumes Windows is installed on D:, but you should determine what drive it is actually on. It may not be on C: as it is in Windows since the recovery options see the partition table differently than Windows does. Code: dir c:\ dir d:\ dir e:\ dir f:\ The dir commands can help you find the drive that has the Windows directory on it. Last edited: Nov 9, 2012
