Problem is failure to install KB4507449 (ever since rollout in July) and now same issue with rollout KB4512506………failing every time. Update error shown is 80070005. I'm using Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601, on a
LENOVO Model 5016W12 (ThinkPad laptop L520), which is an x64-based PC [processor=Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10GHz, 2100 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) and shows BIOS Version/Date=LENOVO 8GET30WW (1.07 ), 4/8/2011]
Following steps of niemiro's outline for posting here, shows that
Step 2 SFC scan results = did NOT find any integrity violations;
Step 3 Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64.nsu WAS successfully downloaded and installed;
Step 4 run SFCFix also was done and results are pasted here:
SFCFix version 3.0.2.1 by niemiro.

Hi!

Please start with the following:

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to check your SMART status with GSmartControl:

  • Download the portable version of GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the zip file to your Desktop. Open the folder gsmartcontrol-1.1.3-win64 which should be located on your Desktop and double-click gsmartcontrol.exe to launch the program.
  • Identify your drive in the list (if recognized by the tool), and hover your mouse over it.
  • You should see something called: SMART status. It will either read: Enabled, in which case you should do the following:
  • Double-click on it to bring up its window (usually you'll find your drive by its size or its brand name);
  • Go to the Self-Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply or take a screenshot;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;
  • Please note: If the SMART Status reads: Unsupported, stop and let me know.
    info_failing.png

Thank you soooooooo much for this response and help. The SMART status shows as 'enabled' (yay!!), so I've got the extended test running right now. Understood your excellent and clear instructions..............will update this with all information you want as soon as test completes. THANK YOU!

extended self-test shows at 50% complete now................I'm just letting it finish............only seeing screen for self test now...........needs 20 minutes more. no colors showing yet but I've not checked screens other than Self-test/Test prpogress.

Here we go: pasting text from Error log and will attach saved files from Attributes and Statistics.

Looks good. Let's start fixing stuff:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

This is perfectly fine.

Please do the following:

Step#1 - System Update Readiness Tool (SUR) Windows 7 - 64-Bit
1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer Yes. Note: It could take several hours to run. Please don't cancel it.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post, please upload via Sendspace and just provide the link here.

Never did see an actual 'installation complete' notice, but think I may be okay anyway. Let's see if I'm correct. The C:\windows\logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log doesn't look big actually, so Ima just paste it here and see if that takes or not...................here goes.................

what have I missed that you may need yet ? Good luck with all this.......much appreciated.

Looks okay. One more error to fix:

Step#1 - Export CBS hive
  • Click on the Start button and in the search box, type regedit
  • When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing
  • Once selected, click File > Export....
  • Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (.).
  • Name this file ComponentBasedServicing (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right-click on the saved file and choose Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
  • Attach the .ZIP file to your next post.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload to Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace and just provide the link here.

Thanks!

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.
