I have a machine I built that will not, for the life of me, upgrade to Win 10. I can't get to the first reboot without a "Windows 10 Installation Failed" message. I have tried:

- SFC Scannow: Clean
- Chkdsk and fix all my drives
- Ran drive cleanup and defragged
- Ran SURT (last night) still fail
- Removed all AV (Symantec Endpoint)
- Unplugged everything I can
- Ran a clean boot and cleared everything from services and msconfig
- Tried to run from Media Creation Tool (1909) (fail); create ISO and mount on hard drive and run, and run from USB (fails)
- Run this up thru MS support at least to 2nd level; got conned into buying a new win10 key (never get that far). They even remoted but never came thru with a suggestion that worked.
- Researched my ass off to no avail.

I've got a lot of software installed on this machine, and I'm not willing to go to the nuclear option without trying everything I can think of.

My Skill level : Enough to be dangerous. I've studied log files for hours, but I don't know what I'm reading...

Configuration: Which most likely is the problem (a driver somewhere)

My OS drive is a SSD RAID 1
My other data partitions are all on a RAID 5 Config
My User Profiles are all on the RAID5

I have a Intel chip, but all I read in the logs is it trying to do something with AMD64....
I have a Nvidia Video Card; MFGR says it's Win10 Capable. I've read that sometimes these drivers are problems, but every time I uninstall or remove the driver, PNP reinstalls it on reboot.

There's a ton of free space on all the drives; I checked to see if my motherboard was capable and mfgr says yes. I've upgraded at my work about 20 machines in the last month without a single issue, but the were all factory OEM machines and fairly simple.

Link for CBS.zip (Dropbox); I tried to update this morning again, but the CBS log still show's yesterday's attempts...
SFC Fix log attached.

I would be very appreciative to get this thing working! I have an almost exact clone of it at home that I've got to try next...I do have a bare-metal backup of this machine. I'm afraid to buy/try that PC Mover software that Microsoft recommends because of these failures. However, I'm one of those that will not let go of a challenge.

THANK YOU!

Hi!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

 1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
 3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
 4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
 5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 6. SFCFix will now process the script.
 7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

Afterwards run SURT again and attach CheckSUR.log.

Then retry the upgrade.

Unfortunately, no luck.

I read thru the error logs and it mentioned Roxio...so I uninstalled it. Still failed.

Now when I restart, I get an error: There was a problem starting C:\Windows\system32\nvspcap64.dll; the specified module could not be found....

Link: Keith Abner sent you 1 item

setuperr.log attached...

QUESTION: what is the proper association for the .iso file? When I removed Roxio, I lost the ability to load it, when I double click on it, the circle starts spinning (all last night). I ran setup off the USB stick I'd already created.

THANK YOU.

There is something else worth mentioning: I saw the MS tech (who I let remote to my machine) playing around with the product key, so I checked. The product key that comes up now is NOT the original key that I have on file and on my software box and sticker on machine......I don't know if this matters or not, but it's worth mentioning.

Did I tell you the MS Support tech also made me purchase a new Win10 key, telling me that would completely fix the problem? No it didn't. I want my money back.

Culprits?
- Old Drivers
- Cannon printer software/drivers
- Sonic
- Video Drivers

PS: I tried to run the upgrade on another machine - the same kind of Dell desktops that I've successfully upgraded about twenty without issue - It failed just like mine. You know what's different about that machine, and common to this machine? Both run Canon All-in-ones...humm....trying to find commonalities....

Hi!

As for your nvspcap64.dll, you can fix it by modifying your registry: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/178989/nvspcap64dll-error/

Your Windows product key does not play a part in you being able to upgrade the machine.

Can I get Farbar logs to check the machine, please:

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right-click FRST64.exe and click Run as Administrator to run it as administrator. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already checked).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

Hi!

Please uninstall ASRock utilities from your system and then do the following:

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

Failed same place. What log file do you want?

Again, I am very suspicious of the Canon Printer Software, because one of my other machines (of which a bunch of identical machines that did update) failed in the same place, and the only thing I can think of that they have in common is that printer (those others didn't have this printer software).....

Well....I tried. Still failed.

Results of setupdiag.log if it helps. It keeps talking about bitlocker, but i've never used it...
