Fail to install SP 1 Windows Update on Windows 7

Hello,

This is my first post to this forum. My Windows 7 laptop has been trying to apply the SP 1 update for several months now and fails every time. It downloads the file(s), but fails with Error Code 490. I do not have problems with other Windows updates. I downloaded the update manually and tried to install, but it failed. I have read other forums and possible solutions, one related to .NET Framework being corrupt, but that did not solve the problem.

Per the instructions, I ran the SFCfix.exe. It reported that there were no corruptions, so I am not posting the log file.

Per the instructions, I zipped the CBS folder and am attaching it.

Yes. I had thought about upgrading to Windows 10 and that is why I decided that I needed to figure out how to get SP 1 installed.

Good. You actually don't need to update to SP1 in order to update to Windows 10. Please do the following.

1. Download the Media Creation Tool and run this to the upgrade.

Thank you. I had read several resources that said Win 7 SP 1 was required.
