Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that the Windows 10-exclusive browser Microsoft Edge would support Chrome-like third-party extensions. However, the company added that it would not be included in the browser when Windows 10 officially launched in July 2015. Now it appears that extension support has been pushed back until sometime in mid-2016, and will be included in Windows 10's major "Redstone" update.

I am guessing the delay is due, in part, to Microsoft not wanting to hinder Edge's performance. Right now, in many test scenarios, Edge is the fastest browser out there, and improving. But as seen with other browsers, add-ons can greatly impact performance and for those who put speed as their top priority for the 'best" browser, that matters. Frankly, I have IE, FF, PM, Edge, and Chrome and the difference between the fastest and slowest seems negligible - if noticeable at all. I am sure much depends on the computer and network connection, but speed is not a factor for me, and I bet not for many others too. It really boils down to what I am used to, and comfortable with - and features, including add-on support.
