Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named CKing123. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phrase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hello...thanks for your response.

Yes, that's fixed the SFC issue, thanks!:thumbsup2:

Just worries me as to why it's such a regular problem -- pops up every month or so :thud:

Hello. I am worried as to why it is a regular problem, and I think this could be related to your hard disk going bad
Before we begin, BACKUP all your personal data (like document, photos, etc) to another media

After you have backed up your data, we will use SeaTools for Windows to see if your hard disk is really failing:

Download SeaTools here
Install it
Since you are using a laptop, plug it in
Now, open SeaTools
Read the agreement, and click I agree if you agree
To find your main drive, check mark one of the drives that you want to check, and click on Basic Tests > Drive Information

Use the Drive Capacity to find if your boot disk

Now click Close, and go back to Basic Tests

Do Short Generic Test and Long Generic Test
(It could take a lot of time, so I suggest that you run the Long Generic Test overnight)

If either of these tests fail, let us know (it will mean that your hard disk is failing)

Hello -- thanks for your response.

For some reason, as of today I find that I'm unable to open the Sysnative website on any browser on my computer except through a VPN...wonder's what's going on? Funnily enough, the site is opening fine on my phone. I have Bitdefender free, Malwarebytes Pro, Winpatrol, Heimdal Pro and Secureaplus running in my system tray, and there are no malware issues.

Okay, as regards the hard disk issue -- appreciate your concern. The issue is that my hard disk's kind of weird animal; it's a WD Black 2, which is a combination SSD + mechanical drive. So, rather than run SeaTools, I downloaded and ran the official WD Diagnostics Utility for this drive (from the WD webpage for the product). It ran an Extended Test through the night -- no problems.

I also run HD Sentinel constantly, and it's never come up with a problem (don't know if that's any good, though).

However, given that the WD Diagnostics gives it a pass, I should be okay, I think?

I run SFC /Scannow pretty much every day now, just in case...seems to be okay so far.

Thanks for all your help, and waiting for your response.

Hello -- wondering if you've had a chance to go through my last two messages?

Sorry about that. It missed my subscription list somehow. Anyways, if the sfc issues are resolved, then unless you are having other problems, everything is fine :D
