Errors trying to get Windows 10

Hi, im using Windows 7 SP1.. I am trying to update to Windows 10 by the Microsoft Website however it says it requires all updates to be installed and to have the Internet Explorer 11 which i have but i also have the update for the Internet Explorer which has a error during installing. I have also tried to install it manually but it comes up with something like 'Could not install as a new recent update was made on the computer'. I do not have the GWX icon in the notification's tray.

I have tried everything on the internet such as 'Cmd - Sfc /Scannow', 'Readiness Tool', 'Disabling Internet Explorer 11 from Windows Features ( But that appears to be blank so i don't have any options'.

System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) - Fix

WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread. No one else should follow the instructions below to apply that fix, as it could damage your system. If you need assistance with an issue, please start a new thread and someone will assist you shortly.

Follow the instructions below to fix the errors reported by the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT);
  • Download the attached archive file, Packs.zip and save it on your Desktop;
  • Once it's downloaded, right-click on it and select Extract All...;
  • Check the Show extracted files when complete checkbox, and click on Extract;
  • On completion, a folder will open with two folders inside it, Manifests and Packages;
    • Copy and paste the files of the Manifests folder (if there are any) inside C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\winsxs\Manifests
    • Copy and paste the files of the Packages folder (if there are any) inside C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\servicing\Packages
  • Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again;
  • On completion, attach the log located at C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log in your next reply;

Thanks will reply with a log within the next 20 minutes. I had someone accidentally shut the laptop lid which the SURT was running, would that be a problem?
 
No, you can re-run it again and it'll apply the replacements where they are needed :)
 
Urg lol It just completed.

Alright, the fix worked. Now let's see if there's anything else to take care of in the CBS.log after a SFC scan.

Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code: 
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code: 
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.
 
Yes, a SFC scan can take up to 2-3 hours depending on the system it's being ran on :) That's on the worst computers too.
 
SFC returned a clean CBS.log. Can you try to install the updates again? If it/they fail, give me the error code you're getting, the KB number of the failing update(s) and upload the following files for me to review please.

Update was successful! :D

The CBS log gives me a 'Access Denied' and the WindowsUpdate folder doesn't exist.
 
It's the WindowsUpdate.log file, the folder is simply Windows. However, if the update was successful, there's no need to upload these files for me. It's only if the update(s) failed :)
 
Does it require a product key, if so where would i find mine? I Hope its not on the box.
 
It'll use the current product key in use on your system, so you don't need to input it :)
