Hi all,

Today, when starting my computer, there is an error message that keeps coming up. The computer boots up, but as the screen to sign in begins to come up, it displays an error. It's not a new computer- only a couple years old, and I don't think that theirs been any recent updates on it in the past few days. I haven't installed any new software recently either. I've gone into Windows RE, and I tried to run the fix computer option, and it ran for a few minutes, then display a message saying that it couldn't be done. Then I went to the reset option, to restore the Window operating system. It got to 28%, and then said that it also couldn't be done. Troubleshoot also won't work.

This is the error message displayed when starting up the computer;

Can anyone help me? I don't know whats wrong or how to fix it.

Are you able to boot into Safe Mode without this occurring? That's the first thing I'd try as a diagnostic step.

The fact that the path indicates this is an AMD thing strongly suggests something's gone off with some AMD driver or control software.

I am, and I am also able to start the BIOS without it happening. Currently I'm running a system test for the 'Blue Screen With Error' option, but it has yet to finish.

This is what's being called; comctl32.dll, and it looks to be corrupted.

Do you have a recent restore point you could go back to? (in safe mode)

Also, open an elevated command prompt and type sfc /scannow then hit enter and let it run.

The run in the same prompt run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and let it run.
