Error during windows update (0x800f080a) doesn't let me update anymore. SFCfix.exe also gives me the same error

My laptop fails to update windows and gives me this error - 0x800f080a. I tried sfc /scannow but it gets stuck at 87% and never proceeds even after 24hrs. So i tried the sfcfix.exe and it gives me the same error.

I have started to observe that some apps would stop launching completely and would need a restart, especially Google Chrome. I think this is because of the corrupt windows files.

Hello,

I'm thinking of resetting my laptop. But i'm not sure if that will help. As this is a genuine windows copy which came with the laptop, i dont want to install new windows on my own, I dont really know how that works. Sadly I did not set a restore point when i got the laptop, which i should've done, but here we are.
If nothing works, I will just format the whole laptop and install new windows and the drivers for this laptop manually.

No worries for the delay, and yes I still can't update windows. Tried last weekend for the whole day but with no luck. I'm hesitant about reinstalling windows as i need the laptop for work.
