[SOLVED] DISM corrupted and "cannot find the file specified"

Had a power outage; tried DISM, SFC, and CHKDSK to make sure my OS didn't get corrupted. Unfortunately, it seems that DISM itself did, while SFC and CHKDSK were perfectly fine.
I would like assistance in restoring DISM back to normal, hopefully without the need of resetting the PC, as it is a workstation with complex configurations that would not be easy to reinstall.
I presume that the issue boils down to missing files, so if they could be provided, that would be of great help. Thank you very much.

Okay, will ignore that download for now, then.

As for the Posting Instructions, ignoring #1, #2 (SFC) was perfectly fine as I stated. #3 (DISM) is as detailed above.
When I attempt to run #4 (SFCFix), it hangs indefinitely after attempting to run DISM again, with the same result.
Regarding #5, there is actually nothing else in the CBS folder except for a file called "FilterList.log", containing:

From what I can see in the DISM and CBS logs, nothing seems particularly different from what I've already pasted above.
I can still provide them, if you'd like. But the errors are the same.

Is there any chance to skip the DISM check in SFCFix?

The PC remains in working condition as SFC is still functional, but without DISM around, I might not be fully protected against any future corruption.

I've checked and there are either missing entries in your registry or missing files on your system or both.

Step1
Please provide your COMPONENTS hive:
  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  2. Please copy this file to your desktop. Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service. Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace and then just provide the link in your reply.


Step2
Let's do some checks to see if the required files are on your system.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Please Attach this logfile into your next post for me to analyse.

Hello @philc43, thank you for the update. I have attached the files that you requested. Looking forward to the good news.

On a side note, I did get one BSOD so far, pertaining to "dxgkrnl.sys". which is the DirectX Graphics Kernel. I suspect that my DirectX installation may be corrupted.
For the time being, I've downloaded and reinstalled "DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)", so I will see whether that helps in some fashion.
I will also update to Build 21H2 in the meanwhile just to see if that'll help, as it was just pushed out to me recently.

Hi, I actually did try go through as many updates as I could in hopes that it would fix things, but it didn't seem to. If anything, it caused the PC to get even more unstable with constant BSODs.

I ultimately caved in and decided to Reset the PC, so it should no longer be an issue anymore. Thank you very much for the assistance!
 
A reset should do it but if you continue to get BSODs please make a new post in the BSOD section as one of us will take a look at it for you.

I'll mark this as solved for now but if the update or DISM problem comes back feel free to let me know and I'll re-look at it for you.
