CSI Payload Corruption, DISM/SFC Can't Repair, No Source. Please Help.

Hello everyone,

First of all a big thank you for clicking my thread.

I have CSI payload corrupted files that I can't get to repair. I initially started off with 36 corrupted files and by following the instructions in the link I have managed to repair most and now only have 7 corrupted files remaining. However, none of the the methods in the link can repair the corrupted files so here I am. I'm running Windows 8.1. When I use the checkhealth command it says the corrupted files are repairable. So that gives me hope.

FIX DISM Source Files Could not be Found Windows 10/8 - wintips.org - Windows Tips & How-tos

I have cleaned and analysed the WinSXS folder using:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
But had no affect as it said the source could not be downloaded or something.

I then used this command which repaired most of the files, 7 remaining.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:c:\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

I need help repairing the last of the corrupted files as I am not sure what to do, I wasn't able to find any online help relating to my issue. I have attached the CBS and DISM logs so my problem can be understood.

Download

SFCFix and move the executable to your desktop.
Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it on your desktop.
Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.
SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.

Well done.

Restart the computer.
Open an elevated command prompt.
Copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each.

sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

Code:

copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Zip this file and attach the zipped cbs.txt to your next post.

I done as advised and the Zip file is attached. On a side note, when I restarted the laptop it still had the blue screen.

Download

CrystalDiskInfo.zip and save it on your desktop.
Extract the .zip file into a new folder.
In this new folder, run the tool DiskInfo64.
When the tool is finished, it will show some information about the hard disc.
Note: Resize the window so that all information is visible.
Take a screenshot. Read this on how to take a screenshot.
Upload the image file to a file-sharing site and post the download link.

I can download the zip file but you found another site already. The screenshots are ok.

ChkDsk Scan

Click on Start - All programs - Accessories.
Rightclick on Command-prompt and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, typ chkdsk into it, then press enter.
Wait for this to complete.
Download ListChkdskResult.exe by SleepyDude and save it on your desktop.
Rightclick

ListChkdskResult.exe and select Run as administrator. Notepad will open the file ListChkdskResult.txt on completion. (The file ListChkdskResult.txt can be found on your desktop.)

I've ran chkdsk before but I don't think I encountered this error.

The following might take several hours to complete. You can do it overnight if you like.

Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories.
Right-click on Command-prompt and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter afterwards.

Code:

chkdsk c: /f /r

At the question "Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)", press Y.
Restart the system.

Do not press any key during the restart. This will allow CHKDSK to start.
Wait for this to complete. Please note that this may take several hours. Let it run even if it looks like the process has stopped!
On completion, the system will restart automatically.

PeterJ,

I ran the command overnight and it said scanning and repairing disk c when booting up. After that this morning it showed a message saying your pc did not start correctly so I went to troubleshoot and tried to start in safe mode which meant restart and go in windows 8.1 - that initiated the same scan again..I have so much university work to get through today. I am typing from my phone right now. Anyway, I'll post the result after this scan completes in a few hours.

I can access the command prompt from the troubleshooting menu. It says there is a system repair pending which requires boot to complete. Can you please advice how to cancel this?

Type carefully the following command into the command prompt and press enter.
reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\RebootPending" /f
