Hi,

I have problem with Windows Credential Manager on Windows 7.
Two user account were there to access two network servers. Lately, all accounts disappears from Credential Manager.
Then i fill them manualy in Windows Credential, check persistance that is set to "Enterprise". Also, when i fill both account manually and restart pc, its still there. It just randomly disappears i dont know when and why. And it happens maybe every few days.

Any suggestion what else can i try to found solution for this?

Open an elevated command prompt and type chkdsk /r then click enter.

Let us know the outcome.

Also, I'd like you to follow these instructions here and get checked for malware, please to rule that out.

Hi,

That problem happens also on some machines at my work! we never find the reason/solution I ended up creating a backup of the Credential Manager and instructed the user how to restore the backup...

If you use CCleaner of similar program make sure there isn't an option selected to clean the credentials! (not our case!)

Yes, what you said about CCleaner i fugured out a few years ago. I had problems on few machines and CCleaner was a cause of that problem.

But know, i dont have that (or any similar) program installed on this pc. And i cant figure out what else can it be.

What you said about backup/restore is last solution, if i couldnt find what causing this problem.

Already did that. No error or bad sectors found. Also tried to scan before i post this thread with Malwarebyte and Esed Endpoint Security and everything is cleaned.

Not sure if this helps anything!

Windows vault files are stored in the following folders:
C:\Users\[User Profile]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Vault
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Vault
C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Vault

Inside these vault folders, there is Policy.vpol filename that contains the encryption key. The encryption key is used to decrypt the .vcrd files in the same vault folder.
Decrypt Windows Vault Passwords

After a long period of trying finding cause of that problem at the end i give up.
Run chkdks, disable startup aplications, disable startup services, testing with antivirus software, tried solution that @SleepyDude sugested with Vault, registry and Local Policies tweeks etc.
And the problem is the same.

At the end, I just back up credentials, and instruct user how to restore it, it was my last solution for this.
